Rent

Rent was originally produced in New York by New York Theatre Workshop and on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, Allan S. Gordon and New York Theatre Workshop. Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning revolutionary rock opera Rent tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to express themselves through their art and “measuring their lives in love.” Against the gritty backdrop of New York’s East Village, these friends strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. The play went on to become a phenomenal success - launching the careers of its stars and bringing a sense of excitement back to Broadway by introducing a young and eager audience to a musical theatre work that carried with it a message of hope and love.

This new production is directed by one of London’s busiest young directors Thom Southerland whose recent productions of Oklahoma and Mack and Mabel at the Broadway have earned rave reviews.
