Autumn Feast at Blackheath Farmers Market

Today saw an Autumn cookfest at Blackheath with a demonstration of cooking skills by Fergus Clague from Handmade Foods and Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham. The duo wrestled with the pots and pans using ingredients from the market stalls to produce some seasonal delicacies for everyone to sample.

On the menu were a Jerusalem artichoke cream with pickled Japanese mushrooms, served on artisan bread, a fantastic pigeon paella, and pheasant with apples and bacon.

The market was its usual hive of activity with stalls selling everything from game to organic bread, speciality cakes and jams, seasonal fruit and vegetables and Italian specialities. There is also a fish stall with a weekly catch from Martin at Canvey Island

You can shop there every Sunday in the station car park from 10am to 2pm, with free parking. Why not combine breakfast at one of Blackheath's many cafes with a visit to stock up on supplies. The market is an accredited London Farmers Market with everything on sale meeting the LFM standards.
