Lewisham People's Day - global vibe with local roots

The great big, little, tent, wellie and mud free international festival experience !

Saturday 12th July 2008 Mountsfield Park Catford SE6 1AN
Call: 0208 314 7321

Where else can you open the door to find broadway musical crooners, ska acts, super talented tweenie rock school bands in the same line up as Fred's Flying Circus, the Congolese marvels - Zing Zong Allstars, spectacular Balkan gypsy music act - Paprika Balkanicus and stunning sell-out hill billie folk act 'Cut a Shine' - phew!. Walk down the road and check it out. Your very own People's Day. No need to pack a tent, don wellies or bring your own loo roll! Just head up to Mountsfield Park and enjoy seven action packed hours of music, dance, film, sport and family fun taking place over 10 brilliant stages!

An expected 30,000 festival goers will be treated to an eclectic mixture of community and professional performers. One of the event’s strengths has been the sense of ownership by the boroughs communities and People's Day remains rooted locally giving the borough's performers the chance to appear on a bill with national and international acts. Whether you're here for a relaxed picnic in the park experience, a bite sized international festival or a full-on dance extravaganza we promise you will have a good day out.

This year we have taken the opportunity to tap into the programming expertise that already exists locally via venues such as the Albany, The Broadway and other arts organisations, alongside specialist partners such as the English Folk Dance and Song Society and the North London based Magpies Nest to attract high profile performers and new audiences.

Additional Information: Transport Links: BR London Bridge or DLR to Lewisham with buses 160 and 202 direct to the park from the station. Alternatively Catford or Catford bridge with a 10 minute walk to the park. No dogs allowed
